Stress

In this opening message of the What Keeps You Up at Night? series, the focus is on stress—how it invades our thoughts, robs our peace, and often keeps us awake. Using the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10, we’re shown that stress often stems from two key issues: pace and trust. Martha is overwhelmed and anxious because she’s doing too much and missing what matters most—sitting with Jesus. Likewise, in Matthew 6, Jesus reminds us not to be anxious but to trust that God knows our needs and will provide. The solution to stress isn’t squeezing a stress ball or working harder—it’s prioritizing what matters for eternity and trusting in God’s character. When we slow down to sit with Jesus and surrender control, we discover a peace that truly helps us rest—day and night.
