A Mission That Challenges Me

Jan 7, 2018    Matt Santen

This message opens the Church Shopping series by flipping the consumer mindset of “what do I want from a church?” to the biblical question: “what is God’s mission for the church—and does it challenge me?” Anchored in Jesus’ prayer in John 17, the sermon centers on the idea that eternal life is found in knowing God through Christ, and that this mission isn’t just for the church globally, but for each of us personally. The message challenges us to be in the world without becoming like the world, to live lives marked by distinctiveness, joy, and unity, and to engage with people far from God. Just as Jesus was sent into the world with a purpose, we too are sent—to serve, to speak truth, and to love boldly. Church isn’t just something we attend—it’s a mission we live out.
